Internship Journal #05

This week we had a meeting about the resume portal and had decided on the next step: designing admin portal. Just like students need to submit their resume, the instructors need to review it. Then it is also important to make the experience user friendly for instructors.

The landing page for instructor is a little different than the students’, adding one more entry point: admin portal. When clicking into the portal, the user lands on the admin landing page with different entry points. Now we just have one, which is the “review resumes.” There will be more functions coming. On the upper right of the button “review resumes,” there is a number indicating how many new resumes are requesting reviews.

Clicking into this page, the user will see a similar page as the resume book landing page. On the left is the filters, on the right is the list of resumes. Each resume occupies one line with the submitted time, student name, email address, cohort information, resume status (first-submission, re-submit, and approved), and finally review status for instructors to know whether this resume has been reviewed for this round or not. Those resumes that request reviewing will be highlighted so that the instructors can see it easily.

The resume detailed page for instructors is also similar to resume for students, but adding buttons to add notes. The instructors will be able to add notes for each section of the resume and also view previous notes. They can also view previous version of the resume to compare it with the latest version. At the end of the page, the users can choose whether or not they want to send an email notification about the notes. The default is to choose “yes.” Then the users can choose if the resume is approved to be published or need re-submission.

On Friday, I also worked on designing the banner for Facebook page.
